This year in 2010 we are lucky enough to see once more the great works of Alice Cooper when he tours the world with another rock legend Rob Zombie. These two guys together are called the Gruesome Twosome which is pretty on the money considering that they both have interesting ways of expressing themselves. Not many people are unaware that Alice Cooper is also a legend on the screen as well as when he is singing his lungs out. This year Alice is appearing in a horror movie which is perfect for his nature in the movie Horrorween which you might think would be a movie based on the Halloween holiday tradition. Like many horror movies before this it would not be the first time that the slaughter happens during this holiday. Keeping in mind that it will be a horror comedy with some very talented actors and actresses then you might be inclined to watch it. Alice is known to be in many good movies and other TV appearances so you can bet on this movie being something worth watching.
In 2009 the comedy and almost musical movie called Suck about some Rock and Roll vampires who were living out their lives in the modern day world. this movie was another cult classic which really spells out the originality and fun that is created with any movie that Alice Cooper is involved with. In 2006 Alice appeared in one of the episodes of Monk which was a TV series which gave the impression that the main character had some sort of mental malfunction which somehow worked to his advantage. The year before this episode however Alice played an important piece of his path to providing the masses with entertainment. Metal a Headbanger’s Journey was a documented film about the life of rock and roll stars, their triumphs as well as their tragedies. There was also one particularly funny episode of That 70′s show which Alice appeared in that really would have helped boost the ratings for the already popular show.

Alice Cooper has credited golf as having played the major role in helping him to overcome his alcohol addiction. He has even said that when he took up golf it was a matter of replacing one addiction with another. This 2007 autobiography was titled Alice Cooper, Golf Monster. Alice Cooper has participated in a number of Pro-Am competitions. He plays golf six days a week and has a handicap of three or four.
The Alice Cooper Celebrity AM Golf Tournament has been held annually since 1997. All proceeds from this annual event go to the Solid Rock Foundation. The Solid Rock Foundation was formed by Alice Cooper and his friend Chuck Savale in November of 1995. The Christian goodwill non-profit organization is dedicated to helping troubled teenagers and children. The Solid Rock Foundation is based in the United States state of Arizona, and Alice Cooper is its president. You will also see Alice Cooper appearing in television commercials for Callaway Golf equipment. He has been a guest on a Golfer’s Travels with veteran British player Peter Alliss. He has written the foreword to the Golf for Dummies book written by Gary McCord.
Cooper has in recent years become more public about his religious beliefs. He is a born again Christian. Asked by the British press how a shock rocker can be a Christian, Alice Cooper replied that it is easy to drink beer and trash hotel rooms, but real rebellion is being a Christian. Cooper regards politics and music as being mutually exclusive. He has always kept his political views to himself, and has at times spoken out against other musicians who have promoted or given opinions regarding politics. He has been quoted as saying that the musicians who were touring and campaigning for Democratic presidential election candidate, John Kerry during 2004 were ‘treasonous morons’. Amid the controversy that followed Alice Cooper released a statement stating that the treason was against the ethos of rock itself.

We all love to see Alice Cooper in the hit movie called Wayne’s World which was a complete sensation in the 1980s. Alice Cooper was originally named Vincent Furnier but changed his name to be more of a celebrity so that he could make a chance for himself in a very difficult arena. At the time when Alice Cooper first came out he had a lot of competition when it came to other singers and celebrities. Born in 1948 he is just over the age of 60 years old now and is still going around doing concerts and live stage shows because he will always be a showman. His tactics for his wild heavy metal was designed to shock people using props like fake blood, electric chairs and guillotines. Just like Ozzy who was doing his thing around the time Alice was but Ozzy was biting the heads of bats and other animals while Alice was mostly using fake scare tactics.
The song Schools Out is still a very popular song to be requested on the radio and at parties which is a song that Alice did way back in 1972. In 1975 he released an album called Welcome to my Nightmare which sold millions of copies and is keeping Alice very rich with all of the royalties that he gets. All the way to last year when Alice release Along Came a Spider we are still seeing the real Alice Cooper trying to shock us all which has not changed since his beginnings in the late 1960s. Alice has made enough albums to fill a small book shelf and he is not letting the team down by stopping now. It would not be surprising if we see another CD come out soon or at least in the next year or more. Even though Alice has his dark sides he is adamant that he is now a born again Christian who means that he is trying to repent for all of his sins during his concerts. This might be a good thing as Alice is getting older and we would like to think that there is a spot at the pearly gates for him too.

Alice Cooper might be getting on in years but there is no doubt that this man can still rock it like the best of the stars. Nearly 62 this rocker can still make the crowds go wild while they jump up and down in from of him letting him know exactly who the king is. The girls love him and the guys want to be him, a star that can not only sing some very cool music but also put on a great show. Once known as Vincent Fernier, Alice took his stage name so that he could be remembered as well as having a better chance of getting his foot in the door. However with such talent he did not have to try very hard and fame followed his act everywhere.
Gore might be one way to sum up his show where most often you can see some signs of blood or torture. His famous song Black Lace had a very risky chance of being let to air because of the nature of the acts involved in the video clip. People tied up in all types of bondage gear with lights and smoke and the works. For some this is great entertainment however there are a few out there who do not like his sense of talent and would rather his style was swept under the rug. In 1972 his hit song ‘School’s out’ made it all the way to the top of the charts even though there were a few protests along the way. Parents and educators started to fear the worst as this type of gore and shock rock become more and more popular.
Alice played a small role in the smash hit movie, Wayne’s World where the main characters go to see one of Alice’s concerts to pass the time. Alice is a god to them and lets the two boys hang out where the catch phrase ‘we’re not worth’ got a whole new meaning. His latest album, along came a spider was released in 2008 when he was 60 years old which is pretty cool for an old guy. Alice Cooper has been around for quite some time and we are still expecting to see some more great things from him which is why we are all waiting to buy tickets for his next tour. No doubt it will be a gory one just like his others because age has certainly not slowed this rock star down. Like Mick Jagger and our mate Ozzy, Alice Copper will live on forever in song as well as in our memories as being a great showman.
